Weekend...

I finally used my mixer! I've only had it for a week, but i've been planning to break it in this weekend and so I did. I made blueberry streusel muffins...courtesy of my Betty Crocker Cookbook. Of course, being muffins, it didn't really require that I use the mixer, but why not? You can't see it in the picture, but they were jam-packed with blueberries- love the berry sales right now!

Saturday night we went to Saskatoon for a belated birthday dinner! It was delish! We shared the appetizer sampler including buffalo filet. Patrick had the ny strip with blue cheese (voted best in the upstate for 5 years or something like that) and I had the flaming cedar plank salmon...it comes to your table on fire. Yum! They have really good desserts there, but after all that we were too full!!!

Birthday weekend!!

If you haven't heard, the past few weeks in the Peds ICU have been wearing me down, both physically and emotionally, I've been working 12-14 hour days every day, and I'm just exhausted......
So you can imagine how excited and surprised I was when I got home Friday night to find this waiting in the fridge!
No, Patrick didn't make it!
The cake is from Stax Bakery and if you ever visit, you must try it!
MMMMMMMMM.......more to follow!

Patrick spent the majority of Saturday morning waiting for a "special delivery"

His "sad face"

Now for more of the cake.....It was incredible. Seriously! It consisted of thin layers of chocolate cake with layers of chocolate mousse and white chocolate shavings on the outside. Yum!

Digging in..where to start???

It arrives!!!!!!

Patrick then entertained himself for most of the afternoon......

Saturday night we went out for a great dinner at Sassafras in Downtown Greenville.

I had pork loin with granny smith apple chutney, green beans and mac & cheese.

Patrick had the shrimp and grits. (no surprise!)

Cute little place and wasn't too crowded for Saturday night, although we had reservations....

Self portrait following dinner......The reason for no dark circles? I slept till noon!!!!!

Present time on Sunday!!!!

What could it be???

I look pretty rough in this picture, but I just had woken up.....I'm too excited to wait!

Yay!!!!! My beautiful kitchenaid mixer! Now what to bake???

Never let your husband loose with the dough hook. He might turn into Pirate-man!!!

and just for fun........

quick update.......

I'm still alive..I promise! I'm just getting very worn down by the PICU...too much tragedy for me. I also worked 18 hours this past Saturday/Sunday so I'm starting out the week exhausted!
I'm praying the next two weeks involve calmer days. And in other news my birthday is in six days!!!!! Guess how old I'll be???

Chris and Jennell are married!

We celebrated the marriage of our college friends (finally!!) this weekend in Lithia Springs. The wedding was beautiful and I got to experience my first full Catholic wedding mass....
The reception was lots of fun, and they had a dessert buffet!!!!!
Patrick, Jennell, Chris and I

Pretty cake....the couple are both PhD students in Biology

so it was fitting that they made use of all those old science books!!!!

Trust me..it is a long story.....

Jennell takes a break from dancing to dig into one of the many pies at the dessert buffet...

Sunday morning we got to go to brunch with Patrick's family at a cute cafe in Decatur called J. Christopher's. Now, we're back to reality, and I'm off to the PICU land for a month!
Happy 4th of July!
