Quick Update..
So I'm smack in the middle of a 24 -day stretch of working. Therefore my life is basically working and sleeping right now! So nothing exciting to talk about other than yesterday afternoon........

I did have a somewhat scary day yesterday- I was sleeping postcall - and an apartment building in our complex was struck by lightning during a really bad thunderstorm and caught on fire. It seems like only the roof/attic was actually damaged, but I'm sure that the apartments close by have smoke and water damage and that the people that lived in them are displaced for a while. Pray for them! I think that God definately reminded us yesterday that we need to get around to getting our renter's insurance! Yikes!

Weekend...
I finally used my mixer! I've only had it for a week, but i've been planning to break it in this weekend and so I did. I made blueberry streusel muffins...courtesy of my Betty Crocker Cookbook. Of course, being muffins, it didn't really require that I use the mixer, but why not?
You can't see it in the picture, but they were jam-packed with blueberries- love the berry sales right now!

Saturday night we went to Saskatoon for a belated birthday dinner! It was delish! We shared the appetizer sampler including buffalo filet. Patrick had the ny strip with blue cheese (voted best in the upstate for 5 years or something like that) and I had the flaming cedar plank salmon...it comes to your table on fire. Yum! They have really good desserts there, but after all that we were too full!!!

Birthday weekend!!
If you haven't heard, the past few weeks in the Peds ICU have been wearing me down, both physically and emotionally, I've been working 12-14 hour days every day, and I'm just exhausted......
So you can imagine how excited and surprised I was when I got home Friday night to find this waiting in the fridge!
No, Patrick didn't make it!
The cake is from Stax Bakery and if you ever visit, you must try it!
MMMMMMMMM.......more to follow!

Patrick then entertained himself for most of the afternoon......
Saturday night we went out for a great dinner at Sassafras in Downtown Greenville.
I had pork loin with granny smith apple chutney, green beans and mac & cheese.
Patrick had the shrimp and grits. (no surprise!)
Cute little place and wasn't too crowded for Saturday night, although we had reservations....

What could it be???
I look pretty rough in this picture, but I just had woken up.....I'm too excited to wait!
Yay!!!!! My beautiful kitchenaid mixer! Now what to bake???

Never let your husband loose with the dough hook. He might turn into Pirate-man!!!

quick update.......
I'm still alive..I promise! I'm just getting very worn down by the PICU...too much tragedy for me. I also worked 18 hours this past Saturday/Sunday so I'm starting out the week exhausted!
I'm praying the next two weeks involve calmer days. And in other news my birthday is in six days!!!!! Guess how old I'll be???
