NC apple picking!!!
Patrick and I took a trip up to Flat Rock, NC yesterday to an apple orchard...
lots of pics...totally out of order!!! Sadly, the pick-your-own apple season is over, but we got several bags of apples from the store there as well as fresh apple cider!
Note how they say "do not drop or throw apples" twice....hmmm..

Live ducks and a wooden fox!

They should sell these...I want a set!

In sickness and health......
I thought that this was sort of funny........
Thanks to some of my generous patients I spent a lovely 36 hours with acute gastroenteritis last week on my one day off..........
My sweet husband came home on his lunch and brought me these.......which was so wonderful

and a couple of weeks ago he surprised me with these..........
And boring update on my life...I'm finished with my ER month...which I've enjoyed, but I will enjoy seeing my husband more than once a week again....however i'm off to another month of wards, and dreading it as usual. I'm on call Halloween night, so hopefully there won't be anything frightening!!!!

stuff......
So I thought I would post a quick update for anyone who reads my blog....hehe!
First of all, congrats to Angie and Rush on the birth of baby Coles, 7#13oz and adorable! We all predicted a boy! I knew there would be a positive aspect to moonlighting in the newborn nursery over the weekend!
Sunday night, Patrick and I had a great time with Jess, Zach, Heather and Jason at Saskatoon! We all shared the sampler appetizer which included venison, buffalo and emu. Yes, emu- sort of like an ostrich. We also got alligator tail, which was new experience for me, but really just tasted sort of like chicken. I'm not sure if I will be able to try it again though....the whole idea of eating alligator is sort of skeeving me out now that I'm thinking about it...
Of course Jason and Patrick both had to continue the wild game adventure for their entree...the had the Kangaroo Steak. Yes, real Kangaroo. And I'm embarassed to admit I tried it. It was ok. My flaming salmon was delish as usual!
I'm now in my 4th month of second year back in the Peds ER.
We're staying busy in there....i can tell winter is coming....
Last night I had a woman who was upset about waiting....She said that her child was the "sickest in here" . Ma'am , I'm sorry but I think that your 7 month old's diaper rash isn't really more critical than the 6 year old in a severe asthma exacerbation with 02 sat of 85% following an hour long aerosol....or the 12 year old with a badly displaced ankle fracture compromising vascular supply...or the 4 year old bleeding post surgery with BP 70/40.....
